Reptiles
Bearded Dragon
Bearded dragons or 'beardies' as they are more commonly referred to can make great pets. They are very docile and easy to handle.
Beardies measure no more than 3 inches in length when they are young. But will require a larger area to live than you may think as they grow reasonably quickly, reaching up to about 18-20 inches in length (from head to tail). They feed mainly on crickets, waxworms and locusts. It is also important to provide vegetables and fruits in their diet.
Veiled Chameleon
The Old World, or "True" Chameleons are some of the most unique and fascinating lizards. Unfortunately, most of them are also very delicate and considered very difficult, at best, to maintain successfully. The Veiled Chameleon is one of the most commonly kept chameleons; and though its popularity is largely due to the fact that it is one of the easiest Chameleons to maintain and propagate in captivity, it is also one of the more attractive and impressive looking species.
Corn Snake
Corn Snakes make the best pet snake for any beginner, as they are generally the most calm natured and easy to handle snake. Corn snakes have also been bred into many different colours and patterns, often referred to as morphs, a variety of which we can order.
These Corn Snake colour morphs include:
> Carolina
> Creamsicle
> Albino Motley
> Amelamenistic
> Candy cane
> Oketee
> Caramel
Corn Snakes feed on mice of varying size, for instance a Juvenile Cornsnake will begin eating day old mice or 'pinkies' (It is not legal to feed live food to snakes - all mice are frozen and must be thawed before feeding), the next size are 'fuzzies' with an adult corn snake ultimatley feeding on adult mice.
They can grow up to approx 5ft from head to tail. To begin with a small vivarium will satisfy the snakes requirements, however they do grow quickly and before long you will need to upgrade to a larger vivarium. Therefore many people opt to purchase a modest size vivarium at the begining that will be sufficient for many years. For more information on the vivariums and other reptile products we have in store simply use the links at the top of the page. Leopard Gecko
The Leopard Gecko is a nocturnal ground-dwelling gecko found in the deserts of Pakistan, northern India, Afghanistan, and parts of Iran. The Leopard gecko is one of few gecko's to have eyelids, which is what distinguishes members of this subfamily from other geckos.
Leopard gecko's like the Fat Tailed Gecko are very low maintenance, a vivarium will provide the ideal habitat. It is best to provide a semi moist and a dry micro habitat within the vivarium. In addition the Vivarium must provide a temperature gradient in order that the lizard can regulate their own body temperature. In order to properly digest their food, leopard geckos need a warm spot of 88-94 °F.
Like the Flat Tailed Gecko, these lizards are insectivorous, eating a variety of insects:
> Crickets
> Locust
> Wax worms & Mealworms (as a treat)
It is important to supplement their food with added vitamins and calcium etc. This can be done by either dustng the insects with, for example 'Nutrobal' or by feeding the crickets with a high nutrient food; this process being known as gut loading.
Adult leopard geckos should be fed every 2-3 days, and baby's and juveniles should be fed daily. Waxworms and pinkies (baby mice without fur) are very fattening, and should rarely be offered to geckos so as to avoid obesity, and/or fatty liver disease.
Water Dragon
Water dragons are very attractive reptiles and can become quite large; therefore it is very important to ensure that a correct habitat, particularly in size, is purchased from the start. These reptiles in comparison to the Bearded Dragon, require a much more humid/wet environement and for this reason the Glass terrariums can make for a sensible purchase. Like most reptiles they feed on live food such as Crickets and Locusts.
